Android 5.0 Lollypop

What’s Cooking on with the New Android 5.0 Lollypop?

As we write this, Android 5.0 an announcement that Android 5.0 L will be first available for is LG G3 instead of Nexus 4 and 5 excited the LG community. The extended testing and preview period is now bearing fruit as million Android fans were getting acquainted themselves with a plethora of remarkable new features.

After experiencing the full and final Android L, many will agree with us on the following statement – Google does intend to make Android a software of the future. Indeed, Google has reached far since the first public introduction to Android in 2007.

The leading and most remarkable update of this new version of Android is the new User Interface designed under the principles of what Google has called Material Design. The essence of Material Design lies in the experience which is closer to the natural visual sensation that the human eye experiences from its surroundings, including the colors and transition of objects.

The main purpose of Material Design is expected to be a unification of the Android experience across all Android Devices. From phones to TVs to smart watches, if the device is running Lollipop, the interface will feel part of the same family, and transitions from device to device will be more seamless, with things like music, photos and video remembering where you left off – says Sundar Pichai, Google’s senior vice president of Android and Chrome.

Android L will welcome you with somehow familiar looking UI, smoother transition and mild looking colors reminding of natural textures.

Another major update of Android Lollypop is increased and more granular control over notifications, which may prove crucial for devices where this feature defines user experiences such as smart watches. This means that you can to limit notifications to a few specific people when you’re in a meeting or on personal time.

Another feature worth highlighting is a Smart Lock feature, which lets users designate trusted device and pair your Android device with them in order to unlock it. With this Android phones become even more secured than before.

Other features within Android 5.0 Lollypop are:

  • New battery saving feature bragging to extend battery life by 90 minutes
  • Multiple user accounts and guest user account
  • Auto backup of images
  • Complete customization of icons, menus etc.
  • Easy tab juggling (tablets)

Android is already on our LG devices for development and testing purpose and our team members and colleagues armed with Android devices have a huge crash on the Material Design concept and the overall improved security features of Lollypop.
