On Thursday, June 16th, Indian Power Minister Shri. Piyush Goyal released URJA app as part of Digital India campaign, that empower citizen to bring transparency on performance of their Town, DISCOMs, and States. The App is a platform for user to get information on the power supply services in their region as well as PAN India. User can keep check on how their town, DISCOM, State is performing compared to other regions for different month and dates.
URJA app brings transparency on pending complaints, average duration of power outage, average number of power cuts, pending connections, number of consumers making e-payment, loss of power/theft. The App has two main dashboards, one for the consumer and another for the DISCOMs; people can file complain about any issue related to electricity board through the app in one tap and gets directly connected to a toll free number to register there complaint, the second dashboard empower DISCOMs to give the data about go live towns, SCADA progress, urban system strengthening, skilling human resources, feeder monitoring and IPDS progress.
The app also shows power cut schedule on DISCOM level for the next two days, i.e. today and tomorrow. It is linked to the database of all the DISCOM websites to show latest news and happenings. image gallery and other useful information. User can also read tips to save the energy and will get time to time notification.
The Govt. has launched this app as a transparent system for all to keep a check of work on local and country level, get updated with the Govt. initiatives, transparency on electricity distribution and connect with the DISCOMs with ease from their mobile devices.
As per Shri Piyush Goyal, the app is designed to bring competition among the states and UTs of India which in-turn will improve the overall power supply PAN India, including all urban and rural areas.
Urja App is a great initiative which will bring cleaner system monitoring for all and transparent process as part of Digitial India campaign.
