Android Pay vs Google Wallet

Android Pay and Google Wallet are the Two Faces of Same Coin, Yet Very Different!

Both Android Pay and Google Wallet are mobile payments services that use your smartphone to pay for things. Both of these payment methods depend on NFC hardware — the phone communicates wirelessly with the contactless payment terminal. It’s similar to what Visa payWave and MasterCard PayPass use for contactless payments. This involves tapping or waving over a card over a reader instead of swiping or inserting the card.

Both of these payment systems piggyback on top of the credit card infrastructure. You enter credit or debit card details and payments you make are charged to the card. You don’t have to connect these apps directly to a checking account.

Here are a few things about Google Wallet:

Stay on top of your spending. The secret… stash your cash!

Stay on top of your spending by adding a set amount to your Wallet Balance, or set up a recurring transfer from your bank account. Then easily keep track of all your transactions in the app or at wallet.google.com.

The Google Wallet Card lets you instantly spend money you receive through Google Wallet. You can use it to pay at millions of locations in the US, wherever Debit MasterCard® is accepted, or use it to withdraw cash from ATMs.

In Sync with Instant Notifications

Get instant notifications on your phone every time you receive money or a transaction is made with your Wallet Card. You can also set up low balance alerts so you’ll always know when your Wallet Balance falls below a certain level.

Spend Safely

Your Google Wallet app can only be accessed with your Google payments PIN. You’ll also use this PIN to make in-store purchases or to withdraw cash at ATMs with your Google Wallet card.

If your Wallet Card is ever lost or stolen, you can cancel it using the Google Wallet app or at wallet.google.com. If you lose your phone, you can instantly revoke access to it at myaccount.google.com
